Dutch artist Parra is best known for his depictions of surreal bird-like characters, nude female subjects, and scenes of the everyday mundane that verge on abstraction. Working across painting, sculpture, textiles, and drawing, Parra has created an enigmatic and instantly recognizable style.
Born in 1976 in Maastricht, Netherlands, Parra is co-founder of cult apparel label By Parra and a member of electronic music groups Le Le and Mich. Parra lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
His work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group gallery exhibitions and site specific projects at Musée des beaux-arts, Le Locle, France (2013) and SFMOMA, San Francisco, CA (2012). His work is in the public collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
