Over the Influence is excited to announce Belgian artist Miguel Delie’s debut Southeast Asian exhibition at the Bangkok gallery space.
Fluffy Fluffy Galaxy is a vibrant collection of new works that explore the artist’s passion for found objects, while simultaneously highlighting the arresting charm of childhood memorabilia.
The exhibition brings together a vivacious cast of cartoon characters that are pulsating with nostalgia and childhood memories. The artworks are divided into two series: Galaxy and Toys. The former are paintings depicting play dough and balloon characters surrounded by transcendent rays of color reminiscent of an individual’s aura or energy field— a euphoric display of enlightenment that is one with the cosmos.
“As a child I spent hours in my playroom. It was a world just for me. A room full of toys, paint and play dough. After all those years I am still that same kid imagining and using materials to piece together who I want to become as an adult”, he said.
Miguel Delie (B. 1983, Torhout, Belgium) completed his studies at the Art Academy in Bruges and soon after went to work as a stylist to develop and finance his art. For the last five years he has concentrated entirely on his art. His toy works are a trip down memory lane for viewers.
His art is internationally respected and collected worldwide. Don Diablo, the number 9 DJ in the world, is an avid supporter of the artist. Italian entrepreneur Alessandro Borghese displayed a work in his restaurant, while Nelson Piquet, the F1 driver based in Monaco, is also a collector of the artist. Future projects include a work installed in The Cavalli Club in Milan, Italy and an upcoming exhibition at the Deji Art Museum in Beijing, China.
