Hiroya Kurata’s OTI HK Exhibition Review In Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine
Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine recently featured an exhibition review of Hiroya Kurata’s show “Rudy” at Over the Influence Hong Kong. It is part of the publication’s “Art in Uncertain Times” editorial series that reveals how artists around the world are living their lives during the pandemic. Hiroya was featured in the 2012 issue of the magazine that discussed him experimenting with forms, colors, and objects in his paintings.
The 2021 article pays respect to that 6-year-old article to highlight the evolution of the artist’s creative style and documenting his life in painting. The exhibition “Rudy” captures honest moments with Hiroya’s signature expressive manner. He was inspired by the song “A Message to You Rudy” by The Specials that references hope and positivity. The new series of paintings at OTI HK celebrates family and human relationships amidst a turbulent period.
