Lucien Smith’s In-Depth Interview with SSENSE Magazine
The Korean editorial of SSENSE magazine recently sat down with the artist for an in-depth interview. Lucien Smith spoke to Thom Bettridge about his journey from leaving Manhattan for the rural landscape of Montauk in upstate New York. The journalist visited the artist in his country home where Lucien shared a personal look into his life and how being surrounded by nature is important for his artistic growth and wellbeing. The article highlights how he is expanding his influences to include natural themes and references within the paintings.
Lucien Smith recently had his HK debut exhibition at OTI HK titled “Secret Garden”. These new collections of paintings were inspired by seed packets that grow flora and fauna. SSENSE’s profile piece adds further insight into Lucien’s evolution as an artist and this new creative direction.
