Over the Influence is excited to announce the solo debut exhibition of Jack Kabangu at the Hong Kong gallery location.
It is the artist’s first show with the international gallery. Titled borgerkrigen (The Civil War) the show is a collection of new paintings that hold a personal significance to the artist. “I wanted the title to be borgerkrigen (The Civil War) to make an exhibition of works that is more personal to me. I am from DR Congo but have been born in Zambia and became and adult in Denmark. The Civil War in Congo have had a huge impact on my life as a child of refugees. My intentions with the exhibition is to express the meeting and mix of the different cultures and the impact it has had”, he said.
ARTIST
Jack Kabangu was born in 1996 in Zambia with roots in DR Congo and have lived in Denmark since 2005. He is based in Copenhagen, where he live and work in his studio.
Jack is a self-taught visual artist. Expressing himself artistically has always been his special language. His artistic universe contains cultural roots. The African roots merges with the Danish in a very special expressions that goes beyond the verbal.
